# ezgh flags update

{/* Generated by ezgh-cli's internal/tools/clidocs from the ezgh command tree. Don't edit: change the command's help in ezgh-cli and regenerate. */}

```sh
ezgh flags update <key> [--name n] [--description d] [--tag t…] [--client-side=true|false] [--variation key=value…] [flags]
```

Change a flag's own fields; its targeting changes with `ezgh flags config set`, toggle and rollout.

`--tag` replaces the tags (`--tag` "" clears them). `--variation` replaces the variations with the ones given (string, number and object flags): variations keep their IDs by key, and one an environment still serves can't be removed (variation_in_use names where). The change is conditional on the flag being as it was read: if someone else changed it meanwhile, nothing changes.

Part of [`ezgh flags`](/cli/reference/flags).

## Flags

| Flag | Type | Default | Description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `--client-side` | boolean |  | whether web pages may evaluate it with a client key |
| `--description` | string |  | the new description |
| `--name` | string |  | the new display name |
| `--tag` | string, repeatable |  | the tags, replacing them (repeat) |
| `--variation` | string, repeatable |  | the variations, replacing them: key=value (repeat) |

This command also takes the [global flags](/cli/reference#global-flags).
