# ezgh private-ca ca update

{/* Generated by ezgh-cli's internal/tools/clidocs from the ezgh command tree. Don't edit: change the command's help in ezgh-cli and regenerate. */}

```sh
ezgh private-ca ca update <ca> [--name n] [--description d] [--max-leaf-validity-days n] [flags]
```

Change a certificate authority's name or description, or shorten the longest certificate it issues (`--max-leaf-validity-days` may only shrink). Everything else is fixed when it's created. The change is conditional on the CA being as it was read.

Part of [`ezgh private-ca ca`](/cli/reference/private-ca-ca).

## Flags

| Flag | Type | Default | Description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `--description` | string |  | the new description |
| `--max-leaf-validity-days` | int |  | a shorter longest certificate, in days |
| `--name` | string |  | the new name |

This command also takes the [global flags](/cli/reference#global-flags).
