# Models

The model catalog lists the OCR models your processors can use. It's the same for every
organization. Reading it needs `ocr.models.list` or `ocr.models.get`.

The model's limits are what the model accepts. Online processing has lower limits: 10 MiB and
5 pages per document. See [Pricing and limits](/ocr/pricing-and-limits).

Tables are returned as text: cells are separated by tabs and rows by line breaks.

## Versions and latest

Each model has versions with a status:

| Status | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| `preview` | Available before general availability |
| `ga` | Generally available |
| `deprecated` | Still works; processors that use it get a `model_version_deprecated` warning |
| `retired` | Can't be chosen for a processor or used to process documents |

A processor either pins an exact version, such as `1.0.0`, or uses `latest`. `latest` follows
the model's `latestVersion`, so the processor moves to a new version when the catalog's latest
changes. `latestVersion` can be a `preview` version. Pin a version to keep results stable. See
[Processors](/ocr/processors#model-versions).

## View the catalog

### Console

In the [console](https://console.ezghcloud.com), open **OCR** and select **Models**. Select a
model to see its **Model ID**, **Latest version**, **Languages**, **Output formats**, whether it
supports **Layout**, **Tables** and **Handwriting**, its **License**, its versions, and the
**Limits** that apply to online processing.

[ListModels](/ocr-api/ListModels/) returns `{ "models": [...], "nextCursor": ... }` and
takes `limit` (1 to 100, default 20) and `cursor`.
[GetModel](/ocr-api/GetModel/) returns one model.

## Model fields

| `versions[].version` | A version, used in a processor's `modelVersion` |
| `versions[].status` | `preview`, `ga`, `deprecated` or `retired` |
| `versions[].releasedAt` | When the version was released |
| `capabilities.languages` | Language codes a processor can list in `languages` |
| `capabilities.outputFormats` | Output formats a processor can use: `text`, `json-layout` |
| `capabilities.details` | Detail levels a processor can use in `options.detail`. Always includes `high`, the default |
| `capabilities.layout` | Whether results can include block positions (`json-layout`) |
| `capabilities.tables` | Whether the model reads tables |
| `capabilities.handwriting` | Whether the model reads handwriting |
| `limits.mimeTypes` | Document types the model accepts |
| `limits.maxFileSizeBytes` | The largest document the model accepts, in bytes |
| `limits.maxPages` | The most pages per document the model accepts |
