# Service quotas

Service quotas limit how much of each service your organization can have or use, such as the
number of projects or OCR pages per billing period. Each quota has a value, and a request that
would take usage past the value is refused. You can see every quota, its value and your usage in
the console, with the `ezgh` CLI, or through the API.

## Kinds

| Kind | Limits | Counts toward it |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Allocation | How many can exist at once | Existing resources |
| Rate | How many requests per time window | Requests. Capacity refills over the window, and the burst capacity allows short bursts |
| Usage | How much per billing period | Usage since the period started; resets at the start of the next period |
| Concurrency | How many requests can be in flight at once | Requests in progress |

A billing period is a calendar month in UTC.

## Scopes

A quota's scope says what its value applies to:

- **Organization:** one value and count for the whole organization.
- **Per project:** each project has its own value and count.
